JBoss-IDE and Docletassistant

In the middle of 2002 I started to use XDoclet. I was totally excited about this tool and all the more unsatisfied that there was no IDE support for it. So I enhanced Eclipse to provide a smart content assist for XDoclet and called this project Docletassistant.
Then, based on Docletassistant, I started to develop a free J2EE-IDE. I told Marc Fleury (President of JBoss Group) about this project and he talked me into putting it under the JBoss umbrella. So JBoss-IDE came to life. After I had delivered JBoss-IDE 1.0.3 I retired from this project. The new project lead is Laurent Etiemble.
The commercial MyEclipse project also uses the XDoclet support of JBoss-IDE.
There has been a very good cooperation with the Eclipse team and they created an extension point for JBoss-IDE. Before that I had to hack the internal Eclipse code.
The XDoclet support in JBoss-IDE is really general and not bound to anything JBoss specific.
